So it’s been a few weeks since Christian Bale went all BLAUUUGH on set. But seriously guys, I think he has the right to. I mean check it out. Like Bale is the star of Batman, right? But is he nominated for anything? No. Does he win anything? No. Does anyone rave over his performance? No. Did anyone buy the DVD to see him? No. Now granted, he does kind of suck at acting, but really guys, give him a break. We have basically thrown his role in his face and told him that we care more about a dead guy that plays an evil psycho than we do about about a hero. I’m not saying we need to start nominating him for things, let’s just save that for when he learns to act. But we should still recognize him at least. Give him a pat on the back. Nice job, Bale. Keep working at it and I know you’ll get there. You’ve got the potential, man. So lets not make him out to be the bad guy here. We are the bad guys. So lets give Bale a chance and stop making remixes of his breakdown.

Another night, another otherwise deserved award granted to a movie chosen by Hollywood’s slaves. This years award theft? Slumdog Millionaire. A pathetically boring movie that caters to the bullshit trends formed by Hollywood to see what kind of shit they can come out with this time. We all know Ledger didn’t win those awards because he was genuinely GOOD, but because he DIED. None of the other nominees where good either. They just catered to the crap Hollywood wished for everyone to conform to. Look at the nominees. Its the SAME MOVIE. So why did Slumdog win? Same plot. Same filming style. BUT OH DANG. It has POOR INDIANS OVERCOMING POVERTY. The rest of the people in their hometown are dying from starvation and such, and we give them a trophy. Great going, Academy. Pity awards make me gag. I pray that this year has better movie choices. Oh who am I kidding. Best movies so far have been Gran Torino and Coraline. Still can’t wait for Watchmen.

Batman 3 news

Well, as I said it would be, Batman 3 has been confirmed, along with the hunting of 2 new villains (because 1 at a time just doesn’t cut it, apparently..). Basically, The Riddler has been confirmed, and rumours are flying around surrounding Cat Woman. Now, while rumours do tend to have some truth hanging out in there, I’m not sure the film scene is ready to revive Cat Woman from that awful Halle Berry movie. Poison Ivy should be considered. But that might overload the movie with green. There are also a few Penguin rumours, but the Penguin has never been that dynamic a character, imho, and I’m pretty sure they want something dynamic to attempt to top Ledger’s performance as The Joker.

I think Angelina Jolie is totally the wrong way to go for Cat Woman. And Depp would be a terrible, terrible Riddler. He’s not funny. He’s a ‘serious’ Gothic type actor. The Riddler is a crazy nutter. I think Jim Carrey is their best bet for that. And that maybe Uma Thurman could be a good Cat Woman. I can’t really think of any other woman to be her. Maybe Helena Bonham Carter.

Well, it’s been common knowledge for a while that Burton has been working on a live action version of the book Through the Looking Glass (also known as Alice in Wonderland). And now production is rolling and odd photos are coming out of th looking class. Take this for example:

Ok, uhm..what? What on Earth is this? Who on Earth is THIS!? Why, it couldn’t possibly be Johnny Depp wearing something rediculous in what is probably his 20th Burton film. Oh, but it is, it is. But what on Earth is Johnny supposed to be? The Mad Hatter, obviously. Doesn’t he just look so “mad”? Oh, and guess what else? Helen Bonham Carter couldn’t possibly have found her way into this one right, right!? Wrong! She’s the Queen of Hearts, obviously. And I’m scared to see what outfit she’ll be decked in, if this is Johnny’s. I’m not sure at all about this movie. I usually hate Burton’s stuff at first, and then it grows on me. Like The Corpse Bride. I started off HATING that movie. Now I adore it. But I still hate TNBC. Sorry to all of you wananbe goths but dancing Christmas skelletons just isn’t cool to me. Beedle Juice is wonderful. I think his Batman movies suck. Edward Sissorhands is okay. I’m not even sure what Burton thinks he’s doing. Sweeny Todd was good, but Depp sucked. So, I guess we must wait and see. Its current release date is 2010, but honestly…I think I can wait..this picture right here just kinda does it all for me right now.

Alright, so I’m surfing through Yahoo Movies liek the dork I am and I’ve managed to come across some really interesting movies.. So, HOPREFULLY, I’ll be able to give you guys some good reviews. I know I’ve been saying that since The Dark Knight release, but eh, blame the failing economy for my penny pinching.

First up is Australia. I’m really only excited about this because it’s by Baz, whom is SPECTACULAR (spectacular ;D), and because it is starring the amazing Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. It looks really interesting. Baz always makes really cool movies so I think this one will be worth the money as always. It’s basically a love story that takes place in Australia during WWII.

Next we have The Day the Earth Stood Still. While I’m not a fan of todays wannabe ‘sci fi horror’ ie: The Invasion and suspect it’ll be another shitty remake like ie: The Invasion, I still love the concept and original like ie: The Invasion. Will I see it? I don’t know…I might bootleg it like I did on several others ie: The Invasion. And I HATE Keanu Reeves. D:

Next we have Yes Man. Its got Jim Carrey, so I think its a safe bet. He has never dissapointed me in a comedic role. It’s about a depressed man whom uses the word YES to turn his life around, or so says Yahoo.. idk. I’ll get more info on with when I’m not at school, liek I am right now.

And finally, WATCHMEN. I am so BEYOND PUMPED for this shit. I read the graphic novel and feel head over heels for it. It looks fantastic. It still will not be realesed until March 6th, but I think it looks well worth the wait.

So, that’s really all I have for now. I’ll try to come back with some updates on the movies if any arrise. And I’ll hopefully get some good reviews on here for them. Thanks for reading.

I’m going through a live run through of Scream 2008 on Spike TV

  1. Sir Anthony Hopkins is awarded for being a scream legend. He has portrayed some of the most horrifying and dynamic characters to date on the silver screen.
  2. Seth Rogan and Kevin Smith make Fantasy movies into pornos. I am officially offended, but that’s just me. Winner in the Fantasy Movie Category: Hellboy 2. Which sucks because those movies are retarded. Oh look, I’m a big smelly demon. I make smash. But the acceptance speech was glorious.
  3. Kristen Bell and Stan Lee announce the winners for the comic category. Some guy yelled “You’re the man, Stan!” And I agree 🙂 Winner in Best Comic Book: Why the Last Man
  4. World Premere clip from Twilight. Still the stupidest thing I have ever seen.
  5. Gary Oldman announces that Heath Leadger wins Best Fantasy Actor and Best Villian for his absolutely stunning performance in the movie, The Dark Knight. He has REVOLUTIONIZED the character, and very much deserves these awards.

And here’s where I get a lie and must stop.

This is why I said I wouldn’t be doing much until my computer was fixed.

I’m floating around through the movie doldrums today. I saw the Dark Knight is still at the top of the charts. its crazy. On Yahoo atm, it’s number 3. Anyways, some movies I’m looking forward to are Ghost Town, Eagle Eye, and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. For one, the main actor in Ghost Town is great. I’m not partial to those kinds of movies, but this one seems interesting. It follows a man whom dies and comes back with the ability to see ghosts. It seems like a cute break from movies like The Dark Knight. Eagle Eye, however, looks like an edge of your seat roller coaster. It reminds me of the Matrix. The Nick and Norah one looks iffy. I’m not a fan of Indie films really. But one of my friends is really into it. Michael Cera is amazing, somehow. So I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt. So I’ll be back when those roll around with more rants and hopefully, good reviews.

I took a liking to the trailer for Eagle Eye, as well as Watchmen (I’ll comment on Watchmen some other time). It looks pretty good. There’s a saying in a few film circles about how for a Spielberg film to be good, it has to be his baby. He has to conceive it, carry it, give birth, breast feed it, and so on. And then you have Schindler’s List.  And now it seems he’s taken a liking to young Shia Lebouf. There’s Disturbia, Transformers 1 and 2, Indiana Jones, and now Eagle Eye. I know lots of directors have favourite actors and use them over and over, but this is a lot for a short time period. It’s quite curious.

Anyways, check out Eagle Eye at the official website here.

So, I’m getting a bit suspicious about The Dark Knight. Every commercial and ad raves about Heath Ledger. It’s just a 20 second promo for The Joker. I know it’s sad Ledger died and stuff, but the movie is about BATMAN. Is the plotline and such bad enough that they’re trying to save it with a dead man? It’s what I’m worrying about. No no no, I’m not making little of Ledger, infact I think he’s a pretty good actor. I just think they’re going a bit overboard with all of this. Look, industry, he died. It was a very tragic accident. No one wanted that but it’s time to let it go, ok? The movie industry is about movies, not about honoring dead actors. And I don’t think it’s wrong to honor him either. I just think it’s way too much. Anyways, I hope I’m wrong and that it’s the amazing movie everyone claims it to be.

In other superhero news, they’re thinking about ending the HULK franchise. I think this is great. No, I’m not dissing the Hulk, even though a giant green guy isn’t my thing, I just think continuing franchises is what makes movies fail and lose their fan base. So, this is a smart move proposed move on Hulk’s behalf and I hope I works out the way they want if they go through with it.

News has it that Sir Ian  McKellen  wants to return as Gandalf for The Hobbit.

HECK YES!

Honestly, how can this movie not be awesome? Book by Tolkien. Produced by Jackson. Directed by Del Toro. I think we’ve got another blockbuster on our hands.  But changing actors has really bad effects anyways. I really doubt that those two would make a mistake as to suddenly changed Gandalf. They should really use the man that played Bilbo to make a comeback also.

Also:

This seems to be from the part after the trailer when Indiana is roughly thrown out of a car and out into the dirt just before the chase scene in the giant store room of artifacts. Here we see him behind his new Russian nemesis. Is she taking him here to find something specific? Perhaps, the crystal skull? All we can tell is that it doesn’t go well, from the violent fight scene depicted in the trailer.
