Oh gosh. ANOTHER High School Musical movie. Are you kidding me? This is one of the worst fads to pollute America’s youth.
“oh, but the songs are so catchy and it’s full of positive themes!”
No. The songs are annoying and loud and what positive themes? You’re showing little kids this made up fantasy world where life is perfect and everyone’s happy and everyone is a white blonde cheerleader with a basketball star boyfriend. It’s exactally what youth DOESN’T need. Forcing these ideas and labels onto youth. Life is not like that. Especially not highschool life. It might be just a movie, but kids are taking it way to seriously. What about the academic standpoint of highschool? It’s not just a place of fun and games. It’s a real job. And continuing this is only making it worse.
Besides that, they are just crappy movies with bad singing. Their cast is a bunch of sluts. Its just horrible. what some real TV. Watch the History Channel.
well said. it’s all corporate crap anyway. hannah-montana, jonas brothers, HSM; it’s all just tween-marketing. it glorifies superficial attitudes and promotes the annoying preppy-jock faction in schools. i trudged through four years of high school, and not a single day could be summed up in a song (not a happy one, anyway).
but, anyway, this is all just disney’s corporate greed. if the product works, milk it for all it’s worth.
and in the end, movies and music like this simply turn kids away from better forms of the two mediums. i cringe every time i see a girl on facebook (including my own sister) who lists hannah-montana and ‘high school musical! (of course)’ under their favorites. it’s dumbing down the youth movement and it’s brainwashing them to follow the corporate hand
in the end, these are the tweens that become the superficial bitchy bimbos whose purpose in life is to get the hottest guy and to be prettier than the next girl. i would say something about the guys these things influence, but frankly, i’d be surprised if any guys watched it and if they did, they have even bigger problems.
for these people: get some fucking culture. listen to the beatles and beethoven; watch some classic movies and some decent television.
and that has been my rant. sorry to ramble
